Ideas that are too big to fail may open up a new funding opportunity for investors. With 5G technology, this is the case. Every time they read their email, investors are reminded of the potential of 5G. “How to Invest in 5G” is a popular topic among investment gurus. However, investing in 5G isn’t comparable to investing in tech stocks, or even specific niches like entertainment stocks, or streaming stocks.
Investing in 5G stocks is similar to investing in all of the above and a lot more. That’s because 5G, which is also referred to as fifth-generation wireless technology, is more than simply faster speeds and reduced latency between devices.
The ability of 5G to advance the way organizations operate will be one of its primary advantages. It already has a stimulative impact on our national infrastructure. Artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, and virtual reality are three industries that will benefit greatly. The electric vehicle (EV) sector is red hot and will continue its growth as 5G helps lead the advancement in autonomous driving.
As we speak, consumers are replacing their current 4G phones with 5G-enabled models. The 5G revolution began in earnest in 2019. Some of the infrastructure build-up was delayed by the novel coronavirus and geopolitical tensions between the United States and China.
However, in the second half of 2020, 5G infrastructure will be built at breakneck speed. All of which is to say that 5G isn’t just a new opportunity, it’ll be around for a long while just as software stocks and quantum computer stock.

You may attribute it in part to the advent of 5G technology if it appears as though technology is expanding at a faster rate than ten years ago. 5G’s potential is just now becoming apparent in our homes and businesses. Many of the technologies that benefited from 4G’s capabilities were developed in anticipation of 5G’s arrival.
Now that it’s here, it’s offering a slew of possibilities for investors. However, not all 5G stocks are created equal. We’ll define what 5G is and how it offers investors an opportunity in this post. We’ll also discuss several sub-sectors where investors may profit from 5G either as pure plays or derivative investments.
Before you put any of your investment money into 5G stocks, it’s essential to know what you’re getting yourself into. If this is simple for some of you, feel free to skip ahead. However, this will assist all the readers in catching up.
You might think of it another way. The move to wireless technology has mainly benefited individual users. 5G technologies will provide enormous benefits to corporations and the country’s infrastructure when they emerge.
The first two generations (1G and 2G) enabled voice, text (SMS), and multimedia messaging services (MMS) wireless communication. Around the year 2000, 3G brought about the smartphone revolution.
3G made Bigger and Faster: Users were able to download internet applications (apps) and audio and video files at higher speeds thanks to the faster network bandwidth. It was revolutionary with the ability to download apps in less than a minute when it first launched.
The fourth generation (4G) arrived ten years after 3G was released. This is known as both 4G and 4G LTE, although the technology is identical. Upload speeds were faster as a result of the improved latency. Streaming music and video became possible as a result of this advancement from 1G through 4G. However, 5G does even more.
While mobile network providers such as T-Mobile (NASDAQ:TMUS) and rivals Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and AT&T (NYSE:T) are all great options for investing in 5G, investors wishing for more concentrated portfolio exposure to 5G can focus on companies providing related infrastructure, equipment, and technology. Experts from BAMagazine think the best 5G stocks of 2021 are:
One of the most important 5G stocks is Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ), which has invested more than $17 billion in 5G technology so far. The company expects to have launched over 30 5G markets by the end of 2019.
5G at AT&T is expected to be a big part of its business in 2021, with the company aiming to have nationwide coverage. AT&T has already begun rolling out 5G service in some U.S. cities and is thought to have an advantage over Verizon given its large customer base and expansive wireless network.
Another 5G stock with significant exposure to the technology is Finland’s Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK). Nokia has been developing 5G infrastructure solutions since 2016 and supplies equipment to most of the major American wireless carriers, including AT&T.
Network equipment giant Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) is another company with a lot to gain from the 5G rollout. The company has been touting its 5G capabilities for a few years and has made acquisitions such as NDS Group plc to bolster its position in the space.
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL), the parent company of Google, will be an important 5G stock as it continues to diversify its revenue streams away from advertising. In addition to providing mobile network services through Google Fi, Alphabet is also a major player in developing artificial intelligence.

Investors can also gain indirect exposure to 5G through the technology sector, where companies such as Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) and Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) are developing the necessary hardware and software for 5G devices.
One of the most influential 5G stocks isQualcomm, which licenses many of its key technologies such as RF Front-End and the Snapdragon chip to device manufacturers. The company has already won orders from major Chinese smartphone brands such as Xiaomi and Oppo for supplying their necessary 5G chipsets in 2020.
Intel stocks are a very viable stock aswell, Intel’s key role as a key 5G chip supplier was visible at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress, where it showcased its new XMM 8160 5G modem. Although the company only presented its plans and not actual products, it is clear that Intel will play a crucial part in the development and deployment of 5G infrastructure and devices.
Swedish telecom giant Ericsson is another key player in the 5G space, with its 5G infrastructure products having been adopted by more than 70 operators in over 45 countries. The company is also a leading provider of 5G services, with Ericsson’s CEO recently stating that the firm expects to generate an annual revenue of $10 billion from 5G by 2025.

As you may know, penny stocks have high potential growth, but they are also riskier than bigger companies. Let’s first look at whether 5G penny stocks are something worth considering as an investment.
5G Stocks and technology are way more then just a phone
The transition from 3G to 4G was primarily about telecom stocks like Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and ATT (NYSE:T). However with the advent of 4G investors also could invest in streaming stocks such as Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) and, more recently, Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU).
5G investors have even more options. As we noted previously, investors may invest in a variety of sectors. Investors will have the option to shift assets to other firms as 5G infrastructure develops and matures, allowing them to optimize their profits. Here are just a few of the sectors that look to gain from 5G technology:
5G is more than simply your phone or tablet, as you can see. This emphasizes one of the major advantages of investing in 5G stocks: diversification. 5G allows investors to take a position in a wide range of industries.
However, if you examine the areas where 5G is most likely to be beneficial, you may find a number of ETFs that will provide excellent coverage.
The Global X Internet of Things ETF (NASDAQ:SNSR) and the Defiance Next Gen Connectivity ETF (NYSEARCA:FIVG) are two options. If you’re searching for less risk, consider an ETF that focuses on 5G’s infrastructure. There are a number of ETFs dedicated to semiconductors available.
The terms “revolution” and “paradigm shift” are frequently used but incorrectly. However, that isn’t the case with 5G. For many investors, 5G is a game-changer, and the technology is still in its early innings. This gives investors two very important things: time and multiple paths to profit. That’s an enticing combination and one that you would do well to capitalize on.
